Welcome to Pemstein Tack Exchange — and thank you for visiting! Our mission is simple: to help riders find quality, affordable saddles and tack that truly work for both horse and rider.
Pemstein Tack Exchange was founded by Jason Pemstein and Charlena “Charlie” Sokolov, lifelong equestrians based in South-Central Texas. The idea began when Charlie helped a rider in New Jersey find a used saddle for her hard-to-fit gelding through a Facebook group. What started as a small act of helping another rider quickly revealed a much larger challenge within the equestrian community.
Many riders struggle to find affordable saddles and tack that properly fit their horses, especially when they are unsure of their horse’s specific needs. At the same time, countless quality saddles sit unused in tack rooms across the country.
Recognizing this gap, Jason and Charlie created Pemstein Tack Exchange — an online tack shop platform designed to connect riders with quality, fairly priced saddles and tack, while also providing guidance so riders can purchase with confidence.
Our Approach
By partnering with reputable saddle and tack companies and operating primarily online, Pemstein Tack Exchange is able to keep overhead low and selection broad. This allows riders to access trusted products, pre-owned saddles, and professional guidance without the traditional markups often found in retail tack stores.
But what truly sets Pemstein Tack Exchange apart is our focus on fit and education.
Saddle Fitting Services
Charlie brings extensive saddle-fit experience to Pemstein Tack Exchange. For several years she worked consulting with riders and horses across the country, helping them address saddle fit challenges for both horse and rider.
Through this work, Charlie developed a strong foundation in equine anatomy, rider biomechanics, and how saddle design affects performance, comfort, and long-term soundness.
Because every horse and rider combination is unique, Pemstein Tack Exchange offers both in-person and virtual saddle fitting consultations. These services help riders better understand their horse’s needs, evaluate their current tack, and find saddle options that support proper movement and balance.
Our goal is not just to sell saddles — it’s to help riders make informed decisions that support their horse’s comfort and their own riding success.
